Last year, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) improved the procedure of NBI Clearance application. With the NBI Online Application now available, applicants do not have to wait in long lines for many hours anymore.
Here are the steps of how to get an NBI clearance through online application in the Philippines:
Completing the Application Form
- Visit the website of the NBI Clearance Online Application.
- On the page, fill out the “First Timer or New Applicant” Application Form.
- After completion, you should tick the box for “I Accept Term of Service” and the “Sign up” button should be clicked. A window will appear, and you must press the “I Agree” button.
- You will be directed to another page where more details are required. You must continue to fill this page out and, click “Save Information” button afterwards.
- You have already completed the NBI Clearance Application form. You can edit it by clicking the “Edit Information” button which is at the upper right part of the screen.
- Once you are done with the application form, you will have to click “Application for Clearance” and you will go to the next step. This button is at the upper right side.
- Then, a window will appear and you will be asked of the NBI Clearance Application Type that you need. You will choose either New or Renewal application from the drop down list.
- Next, you need to write the type of valid ID that you will present during the process.
- After completing this stage, you have to click “I Agree”. An important message will appear, and you have to click the “Okay” button.
Setting an Appointment Schedule
After processing the online application form, you have to set a schedule of appointment for the processing of your NBI Clearance.
- Choose the NBI Branch where you will process the NBI Clearance. Select the branch from the drop down.
- You need to set the date and time for the process.
- After the scheduling, go to the “Purpose” of your application. Choose between Local and Abroad.
- Next, you need to provide the “Purpose Detail”. Do this by selecting the NBI Clearance purpose, depending on what you need.
- Depending on your purpose of application, there will be a fee to pay. To complete transaction, you have to pick a payment of method. It can be through banks (online or over the counter), mobile (using Gcash), Bayad Centers, or you can go directly to the NBI office.
Processing
After completing the online steps, you can already process your NBI Clearance.
- Print your NBI Clearance Application Reference Code from the website. If you do not have a printed form, just make sure that you have copied the Registration Code, so you can present it.
- Bring two (2) valid IDs.
- Wear appropriate attire according to the dress code implemented in the NBI Clearance outlets.
- When you reach the office, ask directions on where to go for the process.
- Your photo will be taken, and after this, you are on your way to the Biometrics procedure.
- Lastly, you will need to go to the NBI printing area to get your accomplished NBI Clearance.

what if i set an appointment schedule but i forgot my schedule instead pay on different schedule? Do i have to reschedule?

I have followed the directions and Im scheduled tomorrow. I paid at LBC and have my reference number already. May I ask if its ok that I only have a photocopy of my NSO birth cetificate? Anyway, I have my two valid IDs. Would that be enough?
